Hooklinks, Main Lines & Braid
Fishing lines serve as the critical link between the angler and the fish, with each type engineered for specific performance traits like strength, stretch, and invisibility. Monofilament mainlines remain the most popular choice for general angling due to their high knot strength, abrasion resistance, and "stretch," which helps cushion the lunges of a large fish. In contrast, braided lines offer zero stretch and a much thinner diameter for the same breaking strain, making them the gold standard for long-range casting and lure fishing where feeling every "tap" is vital. For the terminal end, hooklinks are specialized sub-sections of line—often made from fluorocarbon (which is virtually invisible underwater) or supple coated braids—designed to present the bait naturally while being tough enough to withstand the abrasive mouth of a carp or barbel.
