Bite Indicators & Butt Rests

Fishing bite indicators and butt rests are essential for a stable carp setup, working together to ensure rod security and precise bite detection. Bite indicators, often called bobbins or hangers, are clipped to the line between the reel and the alarm to provide visual feedback; they move up during a "screamer" run and drop down during a "drop-back" bite when a fish swims toward you. Butt rests, meanwhile, are the grips screwed into the back of your rod pod or bank stick that lock the rod handle in place. For carp fishing, where powerful takes can easily pull a rod into the water, high-grip rubber or "locking" rests are preferred to keep everything stationary until you strike.
